Structured Student interactions should be part of every teacher's daily instructional routine. During this session participants will learn and discuss how structured student interactions can be embedded within lessons to increase student learning. I will review tried and true routines from my classroom while giving participants the tools to use in their classrooms. Examples will come from my high school science classes, but are adaptable to all types of courses.

This session will show attendees how to use Formative as a lesson tool during class. It will also show how to provide students with immediate feedback to cover check for understanding.

During this sessions attendees will learn about science disciplinary literacy and how it can and should be embedded within science lessons. In particular attendees will see examples of how disciplinary literacy is used within my high school chemistry and physics classrooms as a tool to get students speaking, reading, writing, and listening as they learn the science content. Participants will walk away with ideas on how to improve their own lessons to increase literacy.
